Dr. Ann Stricklin, of Denton, Texas, recently left a large gift to Nhowe Mission through her will. She spent seven years at Nhowe in the 1950's. To learn more about Dr. Stricklin, read this article. Because of her generous donation, work has now begun on the school of nursing.
A desperate shortage of medical professionals has been worsened by Zimbabwe's economy, which has sent nurses and physicians to neighboring countries where living conditions are better and pay is guaranteed. The new school is intended to help fill the vacuum they're leaving behind. Upon its completion, the school will graduate twenty nurses per year after three years of training.
With over 80% unemployment in the country of Zimbabwe and one in four adults testing positive for HIV/AIDS, there has never been a greater need for more medical personnel.
Although work is underway, additional funds are needed to complete the school of nursing. If you are interested in donating or in gifting Nhowe Mission through your will, please contact us.
